I heard about your “cause” on my local news tonight. What a bunch of bullox! Is it really practical to point fingers at leaf blowers and motorcycles? I would like to know what it is you think you’ll accomplish? A ban? A curfew? REDICULOUS! I’d LOVE to see what you would do at Bike Night at Quaker Steak N Lube some Wednesday! Youd be beaten! Or last Sunday when the Corvette Museum was there and the parking lot was FULL of Corvettes and the ROAR of V8 engines!

I am the proud owner of a 2004 Pontiac GTO. It has a Ls1 5.7 litre V8 engine. It is LOUD by nature. If you’re going to attempt to enforce your ideals about a noise free America, what do you think you’ll get from people like me? People who have worked hard all their lives to own such a beautiful sports car, or maybe a motorcycle. It will not be optomisim and respect. That much I can promise you!

I understand your love for peace and quiet. On weekends I often visit state parks and other serene places. Its beautiful. It’s wonderful! That’s what those places are for! But its just not practical to try to eliminate noise in town! Thats what a town is. It is noise. It is lawnmowers and leaf blowers. Cars and trucks. Honking and yelling and crying. Its noisey and stressful.

Don’t you think that maybe its supposed to be that way? To make us appreciate the beauty of those quiet places in the world! To be able to stop and say, “Wait. Theres no noise. Just chirping birds and running water.” Noise can be annoying, true. But trying revive a dead chapter, “seen but not heard” is a bit much. You will end up doing more harm than good and it will annoy a lot of good people.

Noise is okay. If you can’t handle it… move to the country. There is plenty of peace and quiet out here in Belleville! But don’t go trying to make another law, another rule, about what people that are really only minding thier own business and not hurting anyone, can and cannot do. Its pompus, its rude, its whiney, and quite frankly its getting old.
